Born James Reiher, Snuka
started wrestling in 1969. He became the WCCW champion in 1977.
He workedfor NWA in the '70s with Buddy Rogers as his manager.
He came to limelight in the 1980s with the WWF, feuding with
Rowdy Piper. He was perhaps the first high flying wrestler in th
pro-wrestling history, giving birth to the new high-flying style
of wrestling... He was the first man to jump off the top of a
cage match! Snuka left WWF for a long time, but he came back in
1992 to ECW. He is currently in AWA.
[AWA] Jimmy Snuka is
famous for his headbutts and most of all, his Superfly Leap. Don
Muraco found that out first hand in 1983 when the two squared
off in a cage match in Madison Square Garden with the WWF. Snuka
executed the leap from the top of the steel cage, something that
is still remembered today, and something that others have tried
to emulate. Although the Superfly began his career as a hated
rulebreaker, he has become one of the most loved stars of all
time. He was a signature star with the NWA, the WWF, and also
the AWA, and has returned to the AWA to carry on his dynasty.
